The ever-popular, friendly competition of the annual Penny War sponsored by Student Council started on Tuesday, February 24th. Classroom battles ensued on Tuesday and Friday mornings after the daily announcements. The money collected was used to support the mission of the School Sisters of St. Frances, an international community of Catholic sisters of which our own Sister Julie is a member. Their mission is the be the Face of Jesus through education, health care, pastoral care, and social services.
How it works - each classroom has a collection vessel at their classroom door during these "battles". All pennies contributed to a jar count as positive; all other coins and bills are subtracted from the classroom total.
Sincere gratitude to our school families for raising $1303 to support this mission, and this year's winning class...8th grade! Special mention to the KG class who brought in the most pennies (over $45)!
DONATION DRIVES
Our students participate in supply/donation drives to support local organizations and help those in need. The school community collected 137 pairs of socks for donation during the "Socktober" campaign followed by a "Happy Birthday Jesus" collection in November, which created 40 gift bags filled with birthday cakes supplies for distribution by the food pantry. Coordinated by our Student Council, students have the opportunity to collect items for donation. These drives help instill in our students a spirit of service, compassion, and a commitment to making a positive difference in their community.

NURSING HOME DECORATIONS
Each month, our students take part in a meaningful service project by creating thoughtful, often holiday-themed door decorations for residents at a local nursing home. This simple yet heartfelt act helps brighten residents’ days while teaching our students the values of compassion, kindness, and service to others, reminding them of the importance of reaching out and caring for all members of our community.
