KINDERGARTENBuilding the Foundation
Our Kindergarten students are welcomed into a bright, creative, and engaging environment where hands-on learning and faith are woven into each day. Students grow in independence as they build foundational skills in phonics, letter recognition, handwriting and early math, working toward blending sounds to read simple words and writing basic sentences. Through center time, small group activities, and classroom jobs, children learn teamwork and responsibility while staying actively engaged in their learning. Faith is lived out daily through learning basic prayers, regular participation in Mass, and becoming familiar with the church and the symbols of our Catholic faith. Our Kindergarten students also participate in art, music, and physical education throughout the week. Some of the special activities in Kindergarten include caring for Little Critter (our classroom pet), learning about Mary (our classroom Saint) through May Day baskets and Mary Garden activities, presenting our Christmas Play, celebrating Dr. Seuss Day, and learning about service through the Humane Society project and visit.

Grade 1Growing Skills & Confidence
First grade is an exciting and important year as students grow into confident readers and writers, learning to read fluently and write complete sentences. They build a strong foundation in phonics and develop a solid understanding of basic math facts and skills, while also strengthening social development and responsibility through homework and taking pride in work they share at home. Students are introduced to technology as a meaningful learning tool, using engaging programs and activities to support individualized growth and extend their learning. The classroom is filled with hands-on experiences, including projects, writing activities, science experiments, and learning centers supported by adults, all designed to keep students actively engaged. Faith is woven throughout the day as students participate in daily prayer, learn about saints—especially their classroom saint—take part in Mass, pray the Rosary, and experience Stations of the Cross, with religion homework that encourages parent-child connection. Each day begins with purposeful morning work and continues with a balance of academic learning, specials (art, music, or physical education), and recess, helping students grow into well-rounded individuals. Some special projects our 1st graders look forward to include Flat Stanley, the Saint diorama, and the President project.

Grade 2SacraMENTS & Spiritual GrowthSecond grade is a meaningful and transformative year as students grow in independence, confidence, and faith. With a special focus on preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion, students deepen their understanding of their Catholic faith and strengthen their connection to their school, families, and parish community. Daily prayer, participation in Mass, Adoration, and seasonal devotions such as the Rosary and Lenten and Advent activities help nurture their spiritual growth. Academically, students continue to build strong literacy skills, developing confidence in reading through small group book work, exposure to both fiction and nonfiction texts, and opportunities to read aloud and discuss comprehension. Writing skills expand through journaling and creative expression, while math instruction builds on foundational skills and encourages students to explain their thinking and work collaboratively. Technology is introduced through tools like Chromebooks and Google Docs, along with early typing skills. In a welcoming and engaging classroom environment, students take on responsibility through classroom jobs and daily expectations, learning to be dependable and prepared. Through group work, flexible seating, and participation in school-wide activities such as Student Council events, second graders grow socially and spiritually, gaining confidence in their abilities while recognizing their unique gifts as children of God.
